Casualty report kills case for war in Iraq

Baltimore Sun Letter to the Editor November 2, 2004.
The final leg has been knocked out from underneath President Bush’s Iraq war with the release of a study that found that at least 100,000 Iraqi civilians died as a result of the invasion (“Survey: Iraqi deaths higher,” Oct. 29)
In other words, all the excuses Mr. Bush has given for the war (i.e., weapons of mass destruction, an Iraqi and al-Qaida connection and relief for the long-suffering Iraqis) have proved to be false.
I don’t know who to feel more sorry for: the Iraqi people who Mr. Bush has put in harm’s way or the American people who will surely suffer horrible “blowback” from Mr. Bush’s illegal and immoral Iraqi war.
Now more than ever, regime change begins at home.
