PSA – Norton Refund Scam 1/24/23

This year alone, Americans are expected to get over 52 billion robocalls, which breaks down to approximately 157 per person, or about one robocall per person every few days, according to YouMail, a company that specializes in blocking them. In addition, there are billions of scam emails and text messages sent to Americans each day. It is estimated that telephone and internet scammers steal more than 20 billion dollars from Americans each year.

In our experience the overwhelming majority of scam calls, emails and texts originate from India, and evidently most of the Indian scam call centers are in Kolkata (Calcutta.) It appears to be an open secret that the Indian police and the Indian government allow these scam call centers to exist.

We are presenting this actual phone conversation, which took place on January 19, 2023, as a Public Service Announcement, so everyone can hear one of the most popular telephone scams- the Amazon refund scam. Please share this PSA with everyone who may be vulnerable to these kinds of phone scams, especially older men and women.
